Japan Trip

Yesterday, I attended a meeting to decide what to do this year as a Japan Caucus at Kennedy School. The caucus comprises almost all the Japanese students here. One of the biggest activities is "Japan Trip", which is a week trip to Japan in spring. Last year, about 40 to 50 people participated in the trip, and went to Hiroshima, which is famous for the atomic bomb memorial dome, Kyoto, which is an old capital, and Tokyo for three days. But we plan to stay there for a week this time, and go to more places from traditional Japanese cultural places to very modern Japanese production factories. (Now this is only a plan and we have not decided yet where to go exactly.) This is because we believe that experiencing both traditional side and modern side of Japan enables people to understand real Japan, and three days are too short to understand both sides. At first sight, modern side of Japan looks totally independent from its traditional side, but both sides are complexly related to each other. If you are interested in Japanese culture, it may be good idea for you to join the tour.
